About This Course
Pewter casting – An introduction to the process of metal casting using low melting temperature pewter. A number of different casting processes will be explored and students will be encouraged to create their own designs using simple techniques and readily available materials. This process and material is idea for creating small ornaments and items of jewellery and is quick and easy to use. These sessions are offered on a one to one basis at mutually convenient times.
Aluminium casting – Aluminium casting is the next stage on from the use of low melting temperature Pewter alloys and specific mould making techniques and materials have to be employed. Sand casting is the main method used so pattern and mould making processes are important. Aluminium generally has greater strength and hardness than Pewter and so a greater variety of outcomes are possible, including structural components. These sessions are offered on a one to one basis at mutually convenient times.
