About This Course

Metalwork Machine Shop  – With two metal turning centre lathes and two milling machines the MSW offers students an opportunity to learn or develop machining skills. Students of all abilities are welcome to these sessions, although places are limited.  These sessions usually involves an introduction to the lathe with students learning the main processes involved in turning metal, the setups for these processes and appropriate cutting tools used for these processes. If however students want to learn more specific techniques there is scope to do this. Sessions are also available in the use of the milling machine.

Engineering Workshop – These sessions are aimed at those who have some metalworking experience and want to tackle a simple project. Close help and advice is always available to ensure that correct and safe working practices are employed while having the freedom to put  your skills to the test. A variety of work has been tackled in these sessions ranging from tapered aluminium table legs to tiny working model of a diesel engine. What do you want to tackle??
